A user left a comment on my Dream of Energy blog saying that although he agrees for a greener Maui, if the sugarcane were to be removed, we would have a bigger problem with dust and erosion.
I had a spring thought that instead of sugarcane, what if we were to replace that with pili grass instead?
Pili grass IS a native plant and it was used long ago as thatching for hale (or houses).
A man that used to be my mentor (I won't say his name because he hates internet. hahaha!) said that the islands used to be FULL with pili grass!
Could this be a good idea???
Have you ever wondered what Ocean Acidification, marine debris, poaching, and pollution mean? Well, I am here to help. The first step to improving our world is to understand the issues we face. Only then can we work to prevent and counter them. Here I share my adventures in protecting and improving our oceans in hopes that you will be inspired to help as well. Even if it's just spread the word. This way we can all live up to my motto: “From the mountain to the ocean, everything is connected.”
